Window cleaning

Which parts of a window get cleaned?

The glass, inside and out, plus the screens. Screens come off and get cleaned, the tracks and frames are wiped out, and mirrors and glass doors can be added. Torn or bent screens can be repaired, or new ones installed, and the crew works from extension ladders to reach second-story windows.

Good to know

How did a window washing job turn into Nor-Cal Maintenance?

It started in 1984 in Healdsburg. Dave needed bus money to get home from school, knocked on doors, and a woman offered him five dollars to wash her windows. The next day he went back offering the same, “and everyone just kept saying yes.” Gutter cleaning came later, then repairs, then a contractor’s license in 1999.

Getting the house ready for window day

  1. Clear the sills and pull furniture a couple of feet back from windows we’ll clean inside.
  2. Unlock the windows, or leave out keys for any with locking latches.
  3. Point out screens that are torn, bent or missing so the repair can be quoted.
  4. Mention any window that sticks or leaks, and any skylight you’d like cleaned too.
  5. Keep pets in another room while ladders go up. Questions first? Call (707) 940-7875.

From a customer

What do customers say about their windows?

Dorota W. wrote that she hadn’t seen her screens “so clean and transparent since we’ve installed our windows.” Martin J. kept it short: “Windows have never been cleaner!” Cindy C. had window washing done inside and out along with pressure washing, and Chris K. counts the window cleaning as part of a service he calls “invaluable.”

FAQ

Window Cleaning Questions

Yes, inside and out is the usual job. Cindy C. had her windows washed inside and out, and Dorota W. had windows and screens done inside and out along with her gutters and solar panels. If you only want the exterior glass, that’s an option too, and the proposal will say exactly which sides are included.

Yes. Screen repair and screen installation are both part of the work, so a torn screen, or one bent out of its frame, doesn’t have to go back in as it was. Point out the problem screens at the estimate and they’ll be written into the proposal. Clean screens matter too; Dorota W. noticed hers right away.

Our own crew, working from extension ladders. Hillside lots, tall walls of glass and windows above a deck or a slope take more setup, so mention them when you call. Access gets worked out at the estimate visit, including any shrubs or planters under the windows that the ladders have to clear.

Once or twice a year suits most homes. Spring pollen, dust and smoke residue in late summer, and spotting from winter rain all show up on the glass. Some customers fold windows into one yearly visit with the gutters and roof, and that’s the idea behind the Peace of Mind Program.

Yes. Commercial customers are a regular part of the work, from schools and apartment complexes to wineries, HOAs and municipalities. Tall lobby glass and storefronts are planned at the estimate visit, and the proposal spells out access, ladders and which sides get cleaned.
