Gutter Repair in Windsor for Homes Built in the Boom Years
Most Windsor homes were built between 1980 and 2009, so their gutters are middle-aged, often sound metal with tired joints. We reseal seams, re-fasten sagging runs and fix or move downspouts, from our office on Bell Road.

Should a Windsor gutter be repaired or replaced?
Often repaired. Windsor’s median home was built in 1993, by the Census Bureau’s estimates, and most houses in town went up between 1980 and 2009, so original gutters there are roughly 17 to 46 years old. Dave checks the metal first. If it’s sound, resealing joints, re-fastening loose runs and fixing downspouts may be all it needs.
Windsor’s heaviest days test every seam at once. NOAA’s 1991-2020 normals for the Sonoma County Airport station, just south of town, count about 9 days a year with an inch of rain or more, and on February 26, 2019 the station recorded 4.64 inches, part of 7.87 inches over four days. A corner that drips in a light shower pours on days like that, onto the fascia, the siding and the soil along the foundation. Gutter repairs catch those spots before they do more damage. Our Windsor office is on Bell Road.

Does Windsor's flooding affect where a downspout should drain?
It can. A sample of FEMA’s flood maps puts about a tenth of Windsor’s area in high-risk flood zones, and the Town’s Wild Oak Drive and Railroad Avenue project includes drainage improvements to ease recurring nuisance flooding. A downspout that dumps on the driveway adds to street runoff; one aimed at lawn or planting beds lets water soak in.
FEMA’s National Flood Hazard Layer, sampled across the town, puts about 10.5% of Windsor in Special Flood Hazard Areas, mostly Zone AE, with nearly all the rest in low-risk Zone X (FEMA Flood Map Service Center). The Wild Oak Drive and Railroad Avenue project, scheduled for construction from July 2025 to February 2026, paired a water main replacement with drainage work for that nuisance flooding (Town of Windsor). On a single lot the same idea applies on a small scale: keep roof water away from low spots near the house.
Debris is behind much of the damage a repair has to fix. Dave Stankas says organic debris clogs a gutter system and causes irreversible damage to it, which is why a repair visit starts with an empty gutter. When a downspout moves, we keep its water on the property where we can, since Windsor’s street drains run to its creeks and the Russian River without treatment. The Town asks residents to report clogged inlets to Public Works Engineering at (707) 838-1006 (Windsor stormwater).

FAQ
Windsor gutter repair FAQ
Why is my Windsor gutter pulling away from the fascia?
Most often the hangers have worked loose or the wood they’re screwed into has gone soft. Each winter of standing water and wet leaves adds strain at those points. We bring the run back to the right slope, fasten it into sound wood, and repair a soft section of fascia first, a small job that falls under our dry rot repair.
Can repairs and gutter guards happen on the same visit?
Yes, and in that order: guards go on sound gutters, so leaks and loose sections get fixed first and the covers are fastened after. Doing both together saves a second setup on the roof edge. See gutter guards in Windsor for how the cover is chosen for the trees over your house.
Do you add downspouts as well as fix them?
Yes. A long run with only one outlet can overflow at the far end in a heavy storm, and a second downspout splits the load. Edward wrote that the crew put in some needed downspouts on his house while cleaning his gutters. New outlets are placed where the ground can take the water, away from low spots and the foundation.
Who do I call about a leaking gutter in Windsor?
Call (707) 321-8477, Dave’s long-time business line and the number on our Windsor Google profile. Tell us where the water is getting out, and have photos ready if you took any in the rain. Dave walks the gutters, explains what he sees and follows up with a written estimate, so there’s no pressure to decide on the spot.
