What can be fixed on an older Tiburon gutter?
Most of what goes wrong with one: seams and corners that leak, end caps that drip, hangers that have let go, runs that sag or hold standing water, and downspouts that are bent, split or dumping onto a slope. We serve Tiburon from our Santa Rosa office, and Dave’s estimate visits are for gathering information, not selling, in his words.
By the Census Bureau’s 2020-2024 estimates, about 77% of Tiburon’s 3,974 housing units were built before 1980, and three in four homes are lived in by their owners. Gutters on those houses work hard in a short season. Muir Woods, the closest NOAA station in Marin, about 6 miles west, averages 11.5 days a year with an inch or more of rain, and Richmond, across the bay, averages 6.4. Storms like that are what open seams. Our gutter repair visits find each leak and close it.

Where does the water go when a Tiburon downspout fails?
Onto whatever is below it: a slope, a patio, a walkway or the base of a wall. On a hillside lot that water can soften the soil or carry it downhill. Tiburon’s building FAQ generally requires a soils report for construction on slopes of 10% or more, a sign of how seriously the Town takes steep ground.
Out in the street, drainage is the Town’s job. Tiburon’s Streets Division maintains more than 600 storm drain catch basins and 30 miles of culverts and v-ditches, and the Public Works FAQ sends clogged storm drains, flooding and fallen limbs to the Maintenance Division at (415) 435-7399, or to the Tiburon Police Department after hours. Your gutters and downspouts are the private start of that path, so a downspout that dumps across a driveway and into the street is worth redirecting.
Most repairs here start with the same checks: every seam and corner for drips, every hanger for a solid hold in the fascia, the slope of each run toward its outlet, and every downspout joint. Wanda D. wrote that “Marcilino provided excellent workmanship to the gutters,” checking each one for leaks. Soft fascia found along the way can be handled as dry rot repair, and a Tiburon house with painted gutters can have the repaired sections painted to match.

FAQ
Tiburon gutter repair FAQ
My gutter drips at the seams after every storm. Can that be fixed?
Usually. A dripping seam has lost its sealant or shifted, and on a gutter from the 1970s it’s often not the only one. We open, clean and reseal the joint or swap the fitting, then make sure the run drains, the way Paul D. described it: “they made sure everything was functioning perfectly before they left.”
Can a gutter be rehung where it's pulling off the house?
Yes, as long as the wood behind it is sound. A gutter pulls away when its fasteners loosen or the fascia softens. We refasten it into solid wood and reset the pitch so water runs toward the outlet instead of pooling in the middle; soft fascia gets repaired before the gutter goes back up.
Do you fix downspouts that spill onto a slope or the street?
Yes. We can move an outlet, add downspout sections or turn the discharge so water heads somewhere it won’t wash out soil or cross a walkway. Work in the public right of way is the Town’s call: Tiburon requires an encroachment permit for work in town streets and public easements.
Is Tiburon too far for a small repair?
No. Marin County is part of the area we serve, along with Sonoma and Napa counties, and the drive from Santa Rosa is about 50 road miles. A small repair can be paired with a gutter cleaning or a guard installation on the same visit, which makes good use of the trip.
